Come join us on Saturday September 30, 2017 for the Second Annual Ride to Remember. This ride was organized in 2016 to honor the ten year memory of Manchester Officer Michael Briggs who made the ultimate sacrifice October 17, 2006. The ride also honored the forty year memory of Manchester Officer Ralph Miller who made the ultimate sacrifice on October 2, 1976. The ride soon grew to honor all fallen New Hampshire Police Officers.
All money raised through this ride will be used to help fund an event during the National Police Memorial Week in Washington D.C. May 2018 to honor all New Hampshire Police Officers. The ride this past year raised $2,500 which was used to help with the cost of the event. The goal this year would be to double this amount so the event during National Police Memorial Week in Washington D.C. can be bigger and provide more assistance with helping family members of fallen officers to attend the events.
This is a thirty mile bicycle ride (not a race) that starts at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscowen NH. A moment of reflection will be made to honor Officer Michael Briggs. The ride will then travel to the New Hampshire Police Memorial in Concord, NH to honor all Fallen New Hampshire Police Officers. The ride will then travel to the Mt Calvary Cemetery in Manchester NH, to honor the Memory of Officer Ralph Miller. The ride will then continue to the BonFire Restaurant 950 Elm St Manchester, NH where a reception consisting of light food and raffle prizes will take place. If you don’t wish to ride but would still like to attend the reception after you are more than welcome to attend.
I am looking forward to seeing you at the event this year. It is my goal to make this event bigger every year so we can continue to have an event in Washington D.C. each year during Police Memorial Week and honor our New Hampshire Fallen Officers. In 1962 President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Day in recognition to those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting all of us and our families. Each year during the week of May 15th events take place to honor those officers across the country that were killed in the line of duty. Officers from all over the country travel to Washington D.C. during this week to pay tribute to those who have fallen. This ride will help fund a reception in Washington D.C. called New Hampshire Night. New Hampshire Night is an event that brings all New Hampshire Officers, and families together who are attending the events in Washington.
I look forward to seeing you at the ride. If you have any questions about the ride, or the events in Washington D.C. please feel free to contact me.
